Ensemble Vulpine Lupin (French for 'fox-like/wolf-like') is a new ensemble formed by singer Nina Dante and composers Pablo Chin and Edward Hamel. EVL is dedicated to contemporary vocal chamber music as evidenced by tomorrow's concert featuring a provocative lineup of voice-infused works by Georges Aperghis, Pablo Chin, Daniel Dehaan, Kaija Saariaho, Toru Takemitsu and yours truly. I've had a great time working with EVL and am very excited to hear them perform my piece I remember watching... for mezzo-soprano, cello and pre-recorded sound. No Exit Cafe is an intimate venue that should be perfect for this particular program.
EVL also has an impressive slate of upcoming events. They will be in residence at Saint Xavier University throughout the month or March. In addition to playing student pieces, EVL will perform works by Saariaho, Sciarrino, Kurtag, Berio and Webern. In April, EVL will present a concert featuring vocal works with Japanese texts including the world premiere of Dai Fujikura's vocal duo "Lake Side."
